Wade Leroy Miller, Donor
He was the kind of man who showed up, who fixed things without being asked and lent a hand before you even knew you needed help...
He enlisted in the United States Navy, and his journey shifted to the seas. From boot camp to Torpedoman School in Key West, and then Submarine School, Wade was on his way to an experience few can truly understand. He served aboard the USS Swordfish, a nuclear fast attack submarine navigating the Pacific’s vast and often volatile waters during two Western Pacific (WestPac) deployments. He went to places like Japan, the Philippines, Guam, Vietnam and even along the coast of Russia. The stories he brought back—well, let’s just say some were best left untold. But he served with courage, honor and a sense of duty that shaped who he was.
Wade gave generously—to his family, his church, his community and even to strangers. He coached Little League and Joe DiMaggio teams, helped with church work parties, taught Sunday school and served as an elder for 17 years at Community Presbyterian Church. He was the kind of man who showed up, who fixed things without being asked and lent a hand before you even knew you needed help.
