He loved his family and friends with all his heart...

Derek was my only son. I thought child birth was painful, but losing him was more painful. He was such a loving man. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. I miss him so much. His smile and love for life was contagious. He lit up the room anytime he entered it. He was very athletic. He played sports all through high school and loved shooting basketball and teaching his nephew Donovyn all about basketball and football. My heart hurts that he was taken before he could get married or have a family of his own, but I am thankful by his donation that a part of him continues to live on and help another family. I love and miss you son so much and I am so very proud of you – Love Mom

I saw their names on the highway sign along I-8. Whenever I see memorials I always look them up to pay respects. I know there is someone behind each one and family and friends who love them. May God bless those who love Derek and Jazmin and God rest their souls.

Hey I am his neice and his mom is my grandma and I miss him so much my favorite song to remind me of him is you should be here by cole swindell and I am 13 years old and I am sad he won't have a family of his own and he will not get to see me graduate or have my first boyfriend or help me with school. And the most part that hurts is he is not here with me and my family and I was not at the hospital to say goodbye to him and his girlfriend jazmin dided to and we did balloons to heaven for her and him yesterday because she died on that day 5 years ago and we prayed for my uncle and jazmin and I miss him so much and I miss jazmin and I would give anything for both of them to come back.
