We would like to introduce everyone to Miss Cecilia Avery Rose Nunn, who was born Oct. 1, 2018, and her brother Beau Lucas Nunn. Beau was born Oct. 27, 2012, and passed away November 11, 2012.

Our babies were both diagnosed with a very rare genetic kidney disease known as Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease. This disease took our son back in 2012, only 16 days after he was born. We lost everything: our son, jobs, home and everything we owned. We had no idea what was wrong until after it was too late. But it’s because of him we were able to plan ahead for Avery’s arrival, knowing she too had this disease in utero. They said she wouldn’t survive, but we refused to accept this and we prayed. The disease causes the kidneys to become extremely enlarged and cystic and results in end stage renal failure. Avery had both of her kidneys removed upon birth and is awaiting a transplant… she is 16 months old now and receives peritoneal dialysis every night for 12 hours to act as her kidneys. Her road is still a long one and her journey has been tough, but this lil girl has proved everyone wrong and is the happiest lil girl in the world. She is a miracle, a true fighter and a blessing. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and helped her get this far. We find so much strength within this community of support. We need all the prayers we can get, as we officially have been transferred to the transplant team. Life is busy and overwhelming at times as we are constantly traveling back and forth from Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Plus, we have three more children ages 5, 7, and 8, who have been amazing through this difficult time. The situation has impacted my entire family physically, mentally, emotionally and financially. We have a fundraiser on Facebook to help with expenses such as gas, food, meds, etc.

I want to encourage as many people as possible to sign up to become an organ donor today. Give others like my baby girl the gift of life!
