The joy of an extended life...

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 13. After 24 years of blood sugars ranging from 10 (seizures) to 800 (coma), the doctors informed me that my kidneys were failing. I was on hemodialysis for 2 and 1/2 years. Each treatment took 3 hours and I had them three times a week. I decided to be tested for a transplant with my doctor’s recommendation. As I waited to see if a transplant would ever happen, I stayed focused on my faith and health.

On November 29, 2000, I received a Kidney/Pancreas transplant. All this was possible because my angel had signed up to be an Organ & Tissue Donor. I have been a volunteer for the Donor Network of Arizona since three months after my transplant so that another person can experience the joy of an extended life.
